Exhibition: Cesar Pelli: Building Designs 1965-2000, 2000

Internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading centers for the study of architecture and design, the Yale School of Architecture is distinguished by curricular, geographical, and philosophical breadth. The School’s rigorous yet broad-minded approach enables students to develop their individual talents without regard to trends or dogma. Students combine a diversity of disciplined coursework with dialogue with eminent critics, artists, environmentalists, sociologists, and others.

Distinguished graduates of the School include David Childs, Andrés Duany, Charles Gwathmey, William McDonough, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, James Stewart Polshek, Jaquelin T. Robertson, Richard Rogers, Eero Saarinen, and Robert A.M. Stern. Peter Eisenman, Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Philip Johnson, Cesar Pelli, James Stirling, and Robert Venturi have all served on its faculty.

The campus itself features masterworks by former faculty: Louis Kahn’s Yale Center for British Art and Yale University Art Gallery and Paul Rudolph’s Art & Architecture Building, housing the School of Architecture, are but a few examples.

During the academic year, the School of Architecture presents lectures and symposia and, in its gallery, exhibitions illuminating various aspects of the history and practice of architecture, including an annual exhibition of student work. The public is welcome at all events.
